A fun and unique activity right here at Wild Encounters.
Come and feed our mob of meerkats whilst learning all about them from one of our dedicated and knowledgeable keepers. Chat to the keeper and ask any questions while watching the meerkats eagerly gulp down their meal. Meet one of them afterwards and have a photo opportunity with it to remember your day. A great experience for the young animal enthusiast!
The experience can be purchased for up to two people at a time.
Open dated vouchers for the experience can also be purchased, making them the perfect birthday/Christmas present for any animal lover!
This experience is suitable for ages 5yrs+
What To Expect On The Day
When you turn up for your experience there will be a short induction where we go through the experience with you, what to do, what not to do etc. Once the formalities are done and we're prepared with the meerkat's meal the real fun can begin! You will have the amazing experience of feeding our meerkats as well as the opportunity to ask staff any questions you may have. You will have the opportunity to learn all about these beautiful creatures.
Once you have watched the meerkats eat all the food you have thrown in for them, your keeper will provide the opportunity for you to get a closer look of one of them where you will be able to actually touch one and have a photo opportunity with them!
Participants can also bring along a friend or family member (one per participant) to watch and take pictures of their experience if they wish. (Under 16 year olds must have an adult spectator in attendance.)
Experience generally lasts approx 20-30 minutes. Please be aware that this experience DOES NOT involve participants entering the meerkat enclosure. This is designed as a 'feed and greet' type session which takes place on the outside of their enclosure. For an EVEN MORE interactive experience meeting them inside their exhibit , please see our Meet The Meerkats Experience (10yrs+).
Once your experience is done you can then feel free to wander round the rest of our other critters that call Wild Encounters their home, such as Meeko and Mika, our naughty pair of raccoons, or Rico the macaw, or check out the scaley and creepy crawly animals to be found in our reptile room!
Booking Your Experience
Purchase your voucher through our online shop.
Your voucher, valid for a year from purchase, will then be produced and emailed out to you.
Once you receive your voucher you can then get in touch with us to arrange booking your date and time slot at your own convenience.
Bookable time slots are 11am and 3pm daily.
Dates and time slots are subject to availability and must be pre-booked in advance. We recommend, to avoid disappointment, you buy your voucher and book your date as early as possible. If you have a specific date in mind then please do feel free to get in touch with us to check availability prior to buying your voucher, however, please note that we cannot hold any date without purchase of a voucher.
If the voucher is for two participants, then both participants must take part during the same booking slot, the voucher cannot be redeemed for two separate bookings.
Cancellations and rescheduling
If a booking is made and you need to change the date/time, then the experience is transferable to another date (subject to availability) free of charge if we receive no less than 14 days notice of the booking date. If a cancellation is made with less than 14 days notice then we regret that a change of date would not be possible without a rescheduling fee of €20 to re-book. If Wild Encounters cancels (due to an animal welfare issue or other such scenario) then alternative dates will be offered. Wild Encounters will endeavor to give as much notice as possible in the event of an encounter booking being cancelled.
Although we promise an up close experience with our meerkat group, animal welfare is our top priority and so we do not force them to do anything they don't want to do, therefore experiences may vary.
Regrettably, certain guests will be unable to take part including people with relevant phobias or known allergies, pregnant women, and
immunocompromised individuals. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved. Please contact us for advice before purchasing in such cases.
